Mega zasedbo The Rocksteady Seven, ki se uradno imenuje David Hillyard & The Rocksteady Seven, je leta 1998 ustanovil tenor saksofonist Dave Hillyard, sicer član zasedbe The Slackers, ki je v svoj stranski projekt zvabil številne elitne ska in reggae glasbenike iz New Yorka in drugod.
