PUTAN CLUB (Italy/France)
Gianna Greco – bass, vocals
Zoé Martinot – drums
François R. Cambuzat – guitar, drums, computer
A 70% female trio Putan Club, from Italy and France, is a dangerous project, that doesn’t belong to any church (rock, techno, jazz, avant, punk, world of whatever) but claims the right to be all that, even more. The PUTAN CLUB is iconoclastic, violent, groovy and resolutely feminist-revolutionary.
The Putan Club declines feminism, electricity, electronic and savagery in groove and high tension. It is intented as a resistance cell, organized by the archaic means of our century: electric voices and rumors, tanks and counted words, from avant-rock to contemporary classical music, more brutal techno, from kiss on the mouth to kick in the ass.
The core of the band are bass player Gianna Greco and guitarist François R. Cambuzat. Recently they are known for their collaboration with Tunisian comrades in Ifriqiyya Électrique. Listen to album Filles de Mai just once and you will soon find origins of well-known protector of the label Glitterbeat in this dedication to the feminist rebellion in 1968. They had more than 2000 concerts all over the world and collaborate regularly with other demons such as Lydia Lunch, Eugene S. Robinson or Denis Lavant.
PUTAN CLUB entered into a new era with drummer Zoé Martinot. In the recently published song State of French Capitalism – Etat du capitalisme français they remain unreliable and even more decisive. The tribalism of post-electro-noise-rock-techno-trance in the video exposes the police brutality and the pose is even more powerful and widespread.
